October 7 Deadline for THA Annual Meeting Hotel Rooms

October 7 is the deadline for members to make hotel reservations to attend the THA annual meeting, which will be held November 1-3 at Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center, Nashville. Rooms are available by calling 888-777-6779. Refer to code A-THA or group name “2011 Tennessee Hospital Association annual meeting” when making room reservations.

Hospital and health system CEOs, executive staff, board members and other health professionals are encouraged to register as soon as possible to attend the THA annual meeting. Program and registration information is available at www.tha.com

Speakers will include:

  • Ronan Tynan, MD, who will be the keynote speaker at the opening general assembly and will discuss “Hitting the High Notes: Living Life to the Fullest.”
  • Richard de Filippi, PhD, immediate past chairman, American Hospital Association (AHA) officer and trustee at Cambridge Health Alliance, Cambridge, MA, will discuss the imperatives for leadership diversity at the THA trustee education and awards luncheon.
  • Jack Uldrich, a renowned global futurist, independent scholar and author, will focus on the future trends in health care during a THA education session.
  • THA President Craig Becker and Bill Gracey, president, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, will discuss health reform and the changes it will bring at the ACHE breakfast. Becker will focus on providing the latest information on health reform and the potential impact of budget deficit activities while Gracey will discuss how Blue Cross and other health plans are preparing for reform.
  • Stephen Harden, chairman and CEO, LifeWings Partners, and co-founder, Crew Training International, Inc., Memphis, will talk about “The Science of Culture Change: Lessons Learned from High Reliability Organizations in Creating and Sustaining a Culture of Safety” during a THA education session.
  • Jamie Orlikoff will talk about “Taking it to the Next Level: Value, Not Volume” at the THA leadership summit and discuss “The Status Quo is Not an Option” during the THA trustee education session.
  • Larry Brudnicki, retired Coast Guard captain, New Hampshire, will talk about the perfect storm and courage under pressure at the THA membership luncheon.
