Hospital and health system CEOs, board members, executive staff, volunteers and other employees are urged to contribute to the 2012 Friends of THA fundraising campaign, which has a goal of $120,000. It is very important to have a strong PAC because legislators need financial support to fund their campaigns and retire campaign debts, especially during this election year. It also gives THA a seat at the table when healthcare issues are discussed.
Based on contributions received, Friends of THA already has raised over $68,000 toward its goal. Hospitals have received their fundraising goals for 2012 and THA strongly encourages CEOs to make the campaign a hospital-wide effort and educate staff about the importance of participating in the political process through the PAC. THA staff has pledged to give almost $9,000. In addition, Tennessee law recently changed to allow corporations to give money to PACs and this is the first campaign positioned to take advantage of the new law.
Individuals seeking to get credit for contributing to the American Hospital Association's PAC (AHAPAC) should make their checks payable to HOSPAC. Contributions given to HOSPAC will be sent to the AHAPAC, which provides support to congressional members and candidates. Contributions to HOSPAC also will count as contributions to Friends of THA.
Individuals may contribute to the THA PAC online at https://secure.tha.com/friends/. For additional information, go to www.tha.com or contact Jill Talbert at THA, 615-256-8240, jtalbert@tha.com.
