Jackie Moreland has been named clinical quality improvement specialist at the Tennessee Hospital Association’s (THA) Tennessee Center for Patient Safety.
Moreland is responsible for the implementation of quality improvement strategies and interventions related to the hospital engagement network (HEN) contract. The HEN program focus includes safety culture, leadership and 10 priority topics:

Adverse drug events (ADE)

Catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI)

Central line-associated blood stream infections (CLABSI)

Injuries from falls and immobility
-
Obstetrical adverse events
-
Pressure ulcers
-
Surgical-site infections (SSI)
-
Venous thromboembolism (VTE)
-
Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP)

Preventable readmissions
“I am delighted that Jackie has joined the safety center team in our expansion of improvement initiatives. She will provide direct support to hospital teams to assist with implementation strategies and educate hospitals about best practices,” said Chris Clarke, THA senior vice president for clinical and professional practices.
Prior to joining the Tennessee Center for Patient Safety, Moreland was stroke coordinator at Vanderbilt University Hospital, Nashville. She also has held clinical positions at Skyline Medical Center and Nashville Memorial Hospital.
Moreland has served as charter member chair of the Tennessee Stroke Systems of Care Taskforce Committee; is a founding member of the Tennessee Stroke Coordinators Consortium; and is a committee member of the American Hospital Association/American Stroke Association Greater Southeast Affiliate Strategic Health Initiatives committee member.
She received an associate’s degree in nursing at the University of Tennessee, Nashville; a bachelor’s degree in nursing at Vanderbilt University; and a master’s degree in adult education at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
