INSTITUTIONAL AND PERSONAL MEMBERS
Over 200 healthcare facilities, including hospitals, home care agencies, nursing homes, and health-related agencies and businesses, pay annual dues in support of THA activities. These institutional members provide the major operating and capital funds of the association.
Another 2,000 employees of member healthcare institutions, such as administrators, board members, nurses and the many health professionals represented through affiliate groups, maintain personal membership in the association.
Institutional and personal members of THA receive numerous services. These include an annual subscription to the association’s newsletter, Tennessee Hospitals & Health Systems; eligibility to serve on THA councils and committees; and other special mailings from the association. Chief executive officers of hospital and health system members also receive the Executive Report each week; the Legislative Bulletin, sent when the General Assembly is in session; the Federal Report, sent when congress is in session; a membership directory; a CEO directory; an annual report; and daily newspaper clips, sent by email.
PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS
THA is closely associated with 25 professional healthcare groups that primarily are organized to benefit the professional interests of their personal members.
These groups are recognized by the association for their contributions in the areas of professional education, research and standards for their members and their contribution to the achievement of THA’s goals and objectives.
Two types of personal member organizations are recognized by THA for membership purposes: allied and affiliate professional organizations. Services available to all allied and affiliate groups include:
- Meeting Rooms: Small meeting rooms are available for use by allied and affiliate groups. A nominal fee is charged for workshops. There is no charge for business meetings or board meetings. To assure availability, early reservations are recommended and arrangements must be made directly with the THA education department.
- Joint Annual Meeting: Affiliate and allied organizations jointly may meet with the association during its annual meeting with approval from the THA board of directors. Groups meeting in conjunction with the annual meeting are encouraged to help sell exhibit space at the Technical and Educational Exposition.
THA services available only to affiliate organizations include:
- Joint Membership: Members of affiliate groups who are employed at THA member institutions automatically become personal members of the association at a discounted rate. Members of allied groups may become personal members by paying personal membership dues.
- Membership Representation: Personal members are eligible to be appointed to THA councils and committees.
- Membership List: Upon two weeks notice, THA annually will provide groups with two complimentary membership lists or sets of mailing labels. Other copies will be provided at a minimal cost.
- Financial Records: THA will collect dues and maintain financial accounts for affiliate organizations’ funds. The association also will furnish monthly financial statements, disperse funds and make payments upon written authorization of the affiliate group president or designee.
- Other Services: Affiliate organizations may request other services as needed. A fee will be charged to cover the cost of providing these services.
